Overall, a good day. Nothing too terribly exciting, I suppose. But, for your delection (or boredom), what I remember from a conversation with Larry at dancing: his laws of Israeli Dance.
1. For any dance, no matter how terrible, there's someone who loves it.
2. (I've forgotten 2, maybe it'll come back to me later. There were also 5 and 6)
3. All Moshiko waltzes, whether circle or couples are terrible.
4. Any dance with the word Tzel in the title is bad.
We also agreed that Kacha Tenatzchi is either a good dance that just never catches on, or we're both those couple of people who really love a bad dance because of the circumstances in which we learned it or the partner with whom we learned it. The latter- it was the first couples' dance I learned with someone other than my mother or sister, for me, and he had as a partner Steve, one of the best dancers I've seen.
They also put on a couple of my requests, which humorously left not a lot of people on the dance floor, and the combinations were funny. The first I was behind two guys who are very Strong dancers- fun, and just a bit faster than I'd have gone on my own. The second- 4 of us were dancing, and the recording must have originally been a record. Amusing, but strange. I'm not supposed to be one of the people with the weird ancient repetoires yet.
