It's been an interesting few days. Seventh day of Pesach, I went to shul, and my former Hebrew High School teacher (well, one of them, and one I was particularly fond of) and his wife invited me to join them and their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren for lunch. I accepted- it was very nice of them, and it was a nice lunch. It was sort of interesting beign the only guest at what was otherwise all family. Similar to the beginning of my Pesach, but more comfortable somewhat. And Dr. Cohen showed me a really neat and scarily fancy Haggadah. That man's class really influenced my Jewish book hunger, and I still really love his way of learning Torah in a group. (Use a bunch of different translations and commentaries all at once, basically. But comparing them is always so interesting.)
Monday night I spent with Mom, and we had a long deep conversation. It went to all the usual places, just in a somewhat unusual order.
Tuesday I hung out at home for a while, and took a 5:30 train back to school. It was running late as it was, and then shortly (very shortly) out of New Haven, the engine died. THey tried fiddling with it for a while, and decided to give up and send for a "rescue engine" from New Haven, which was done pretty promptly, but then it had to go ahead and come back so it could get on the right tracks, and then they had to attach it. All said and done, it took us an extra hour there. And then it had problems at the first stop or two- not major, but enough to delay us a bit more. So rather than getting in at 8:05 and rushing to try and get an 8:45ish commuter rail, I got in at 9:15, and got to hang out waiting around for a bit over an hour by the time I got to Porter. Dave came out, regardless of nasty weather, and met me at the commuter rail station here.
Darn, there was something actually interesting that I wanted to write about here. Eh, I'll probably think of it later. Sorry folks!
