Today was categorized by shlepping, and packing, and Lots of the same. I learned that packing really does go better with two people (Daniel was a real blessing- I'm glad I helped him so that I didn't feel guilty about him doing so much to help me. I mean, I'm glad I helped him anyways, even if it did make for a Late lunch, but... It assuaged my conscience.) And Dave came and helped shlep my stuff across campus to this nice but frozen room in Ziv. I'm not sure why it's so cold, I put the heat on even, but it's still frozen- it feels like home at 2:00 am in the midst of winter- aka about 58 degrees Farenheit. Brr. Not cold for outdoors, but kind of chilly for one's room. But I'm now living in a suite of strangers, none of whom have I yet met. I suppose I'm likely to at some point over the next week and change. It would certainly be surreal if I didn't. The set up of this room is odd- it requires my phone to be on the window ledge right near my bed. Maybe whoever lived here previously liked to talk on the phone in bed? I don't know- maybe they did different things with their cords/cables. (Is there a difference between cords and cables?)
Today's other bits of interest- ran into Sonya, who was angsty due to having left her very needed notes in the library, where she was afraid someone would throw them out before she could find them. Unfotuately, she'll have to come get them in the morning, before she goes back to New Haven. She and I seem to be perpetually changing spots. If I'm home at all this summer, maybe I'll actually live up to my plans to invite her over for a meal or some such. The other bit was that my computer-table-thing broke again- the bar fell out entirely. I'm wondering if simply making a new bar and somehow making notches in it (must be doable somehow not too difficultly) would work. Maybe I can get Dad to help me try when I'm home, for however long that it is that I'll be home. It owuld be nice to have an actual plan for this summer... Oh well. But either way, I should at least be able to get to Keff at the end of the summer. If I'm in DC, then I might just be able to get to the Rochester marathon too, although it would take a touch of doing- train/bus up, and maybe a ride with Kenny (if my parents don't totally freak out) back. Or something like that.
In less fortunate news, I did something unpleasant to my right upper back this morning, while going to fuss with the window-shade. Daniel gave me a nice backrub that helped, but it still hurts to turn my head too far towards my right shoulder. Grrr. Not what I need. But at least it didn't interfere with packing and shlepping- that would have been far worse.
