I am once more in a populated house. (ALbeit, by now a house populated by sleeping people.) The parents returned safely and happily this afternoon. I have since acquired two shirts and a lovely necklace (which promptly lost a stone, which Mom miraculously found and so needs to be fixed before I can wear it again, but still- it's lovely, and my mother knows my tastes Very well).

It made it an interesting Shabbat- for the first portion of it, I really did pretty much manage to make it a really shomer shabbat experience, which I usually can't at all at home, in the details. And Will came over and we had a very nice sci-fi geeky conversation- a lot about Dune, which was a rather critical thing in our becoming friends originally- we met when I was a safety guard in 6th grade (complete with bright orange belt-thing and little notebook), and he was on his way to the YMCA afterschool program. I said hi, we eventally started talking a bit, and at one point I reccomended Dune to him as something to read...

Because it was just me and I was having leftovers from other Shabbat dinners for dinner (otherwise the quantity of leftovers would just skyrocket, and that would be pretty bad) I got to do some actual cleaning of the house and myself right before Shabbat. It felt nice to get back into that routine.

Tomorrow- interspersed driving practice galore and a grandparental visit and possibly also a visit with my great-uncle-by-marriage's lady-friend Lillian. (Uncle Sid was married to my grandfather's sister. He and Lillian have been together for quite a while- at least since my Bat Mitzvah.) I've been given parental permission to skip the latter if I'm geriatric-ed out by then though. So we'll see. I'm starting to get nervous about this driving test- possibyl because Dad went from saying that besides parking, I'm plenty ready to just a general "you've got a lot to work on before you're really ready". Eep.
