Today was my last day at Slifka- it already is starting to feel like it was a while ago already. About half the staff was off today- the maintenance guy took the day off because it was his birthday, the JCSCs were at a conference, one of the rabbis had somewhere else to be, and the accounting assistant took the day off. But Amy gave me a book by Professor Sarna (of Brandeis), published by the Yale Press, as sort of a token between where I go to school and where I've been working, and one of the Yale bentshers, which is pretty neat- it's got a Lot of stuff in it- a few zmirot I don't think I've even seen before. A Handy thing to have- I'd been secretly eye-ing them and was thinking about just buying myself one, so this works Quite nicely. And Sue gave me a plant for my dorm room. And she had the folks who were around sign a card for me- Amy (my boss) wrote something about me being her hero- that's pretty darn powerful stuff. That worked out to be a darn good summer job. Boring in parts, certainly, but really worthwhile. A nice mix of just being useful, and doing some interesting things and seeing how a place like that works- and some nice baby-contact, which is rarely a negative. (Yesterday Caleb fell asleep- finally- in my arms, he was so overtired. Talk about special moments. Very, very adorable.)

And last night I got an email from [livejournal.com profile] qianian asking when she could come over. I'd totally forgotten that she was supposed to be coming over, and staying over, in fact, as she often does when she comes home. So she got here shortly after I got home from work, and just went to bed. We just had a surprisingly serious and meaningful conversation, and one I totally was not expecting. So- go figure.

And tomorrow is my driving test. Wish me luck- I'm going to need it.
