Yesterday was pure bonkers-ness. To the point where I was brushing my teeth this morning and contemplating posting about how oddly banana bread for breakfast and then brushing one's teeth interact. So, I guess I'm telling you folks that anyways- it's so inane that maybe it's funny. It is to me, but my sense of humor is a bit odd. (Even discounting the severely impaired sarcasm-recognition.)
So, yesterday's primary excitement was getting to see
zachkessin and
kmelion, both at lunch and dinner. It made me a pretty darn happy camper. I'm used to having friends I don't see often, but I'm also always glad to be excited over seeing them. They seemed in marvelously good spirits for the obscene amount of travel that they've been doing. I didn't go to the program they were running in the evening (even though I couldn't get to dancing: but instead I started working on choreography, and will be doing some more today/tonight), but I trust I'll hear about it at some point.
I did some work on the choreography, and it's coming alone pretty decently, although, as usual, slower than I'd like. I'll do another bit of work on it tonight, hopefully. But I've got a beginning that I think I like, and I'm at least sort of into the body of the dance. It's an exciting piece to work on: there's more than one rhythm that I can pick up on, which excites me: I much prefer different srhythms and varieties of steps. It makes it easier for me to remember, too...
After that, I had a nice chat with
chinchillama, just to catch up and hang out, and it was very nice, and rather exciting (in a not so wonderful way) as we lost power in the midst of it, so we took a wander through the building to find out what was going on, and to turn off assorted appliances. Turns out that a car had an accident and knocked down a powerline on South Street. It didn't end up being out for all that long- but it was long enough that we got a bit nervous about how long it would be.
Returned from that, ended up going over to
zodiacmg's room for a while, nominally to do work. Had assorted unpleasant and worrisome adventures. Oughtn't describe them here. Eh, for this reason I have a diary. (And that phrasing sounds oddly rabbinic...)
Gave Ted a call while walking home, around 1am. It was very nice and calming and relaxing to hear him talk about what is almost an entirely separate world from mine- the world of music conservatories, gigs, auditions, and welll, currently a singer and a cellist. But it's a world of people I sort of know, and others that I've heard about, or whom I can tell quite a bit just from how he talks about them, and the complications aren't the sort I have to deal with, and he fits in that world so well, it's sort of comic. On the other hand, we haven't talked in a while, and regardless, he's a real talker, and so I didn't get off the phone until about 2:45, and I had a 9am class today. I got up for it, and was even relatively awake though. But it was worth it. Shall have to make a round of the folks in NYC over the break- there are 2 or 3 of them, depending on whether one goes home. It'll be a nice change of pace- although Lord knows, those people are awfully different from each other: could be interesting. I don't know. It was just one of those days: utterly all over the road map.
