Busy day. Had my scholarship interview this morning at 9:45, thought it went pretty well, but have already received email telling me that I didn't get it- but that the woman who organizes scholarships would be happy to meet with me to talk about other scholarship opportunities. So- a bit of a bummer, but I rather expected it. It was an interesting interview at least- it was more a quizing/grilling on my academic interests and how I intend to go about them and why they matter than the standard interview for work related things. It was a good piece of practice for what to think about for that sort of interview in the future at least. Oh well.

Had another professor cover the Maimonides class, as Prof. Sheppard is still ill. It was interesting: significantly more methodical than the way that Prof. Sheppard teaches, and more more matter-of-fact. A pleasant change of pace, although it's unfortunate that it's because the regular teacher is still too ill to be at work. Had a nice lunch afterwards with a bit of a crowd, but one that was a different mix than usual and quite pleasant and differently energied from the usual. Took a nap that felt like a night's sleep. Had Liturgy class, and scooted to teach dancing. Taught Kismei Shaul, which is a bit more complex than the other dances I've taught, and folks pretty much got it. Only 3 people there besides [livejournal.com profile] zodiacmg and I, but some other people have shown some interest in coming, so hopefully some of them will follow up on it soon. And then my regulars now can feel like they're in the know a bit, and this will hopefully boost a. their opinion of their abilities, and b. how much they're willing to trust those abilities. ([livejournal.com profile] tovah623 I know you know all these tricks, and that you know what you're doing: but for a few of the others, these tactics could work wonders, I think.) And a few more people would contribute some more energy and the bulk that I desire. 5-6 people including the teachers is a pretty small group.

Had a brief phone call with Efi, since he's been a bit down of late, which was rather a nice call as we just caught up a bit, and he realized that we could chat in Hebrew, which made him happy and gave me some good practice. It was rather nice that I could understand most of his Hebrew (he spent a year in Israel, the year before he and I met, I guess his 8th grade year) at least when he slowed down just a tad. We spent a bit of time talking about my accent in Hebrew, and headed off, him for another phone call, and me for my homework and layning. Must review the latter and go to bed: minyan's at 7:30 in the morning. And I just learned the torah reading tonight, which is more htan I usually do in a night, and I did it rather quickly- I hope I remember it sufficiently in the morning. My prayer book has a line repeated in its division of aliyot, so I'm going to have to figure out where those are tomorrow morning. Eep. Oh well, that's not a terribly hard thing to do. But I dislike being last minute about things, and that's what tomorrow is going to be: I have some homework for the afternoon that I'm going to have to do in the morning. But in happier news, my Hebrwe typing is getting marginally faster: enough that I didn't drive myself insane typing my essay draft tonight. And it took me less than 3 hours this time too...
