Dancing tonight went well, if a bit quietly.
zodiacmg taught, for once- it was a nice break for me, and this way I got to learn the dance too- Ma Od Nevakesh, a pretty darn nice simple dance. I could see getting sick of it if done constantly for Too long, but I doubt that'll happen. Before we got started I went through a few dances I hadn't done in ages, and after a bit of fumbling on one (Rav Brakhot), I remembered them both, which was both pleasant to do, and kind of nice to prove to myself, although I see no particular reason I'd have forgotten them. But the folks at hte session are getting to a point where I'm getting to have just a bit more freedom and range to choose from in teaching them stuff, and it's pretty exciting, even if mostly I'm still going to be sticking to the more standard beginners' repetoire. Now I just need a few more people... But really, it was just very satisfying over all, especially after a Kimelman midterm.
Said midterm wasn't too bad really, but the prep took forever, and I didn't even finish it. But the choices of question options were quite loose, and I got to do one of the questions that I'd really enjoyed prepping from the readings. THe fact that I enjoyed that is well, proof again that I'm well set for the academic mindset. I pretty much wrote my hand off, and I don't think I did quite as well as I might have, but it was probably fairly reasonable.
AFter dancing I was walking home and decided to make a phone call and chat a bit before I got to work. I called my sister, which was really nice- she's going to be choreographing a piece for her performance group, so we talked shop a whole bunch, which was awfully nice. And she told me where I could find baby pictures of Larry's infant (his website, which I'm sure the couple of you for whom this might be interesting news knew already, but I'm apparently brainless in that regard). But hey- now I get to go look at baby pictures, and that's almost always a pleasant thing. Just spent time working and talking to a gizillion people at once, which makes the work slower, but I'm not in such a steady-work mood after all that exam prep. Well, that's done, time to refocus on the next bunch of things to do...
