As a Reminder to Self and for the amusement of anyone interested in this sort of thing:
Over the course of Lishma, we figured out/picked up a series of songs/texts that fit to other songs that we already knew. And since
tovah623 at least was in the habit of searching for alternate Shir HaMa'alot tunes (which is what prompted me to write this, in conjunction with getting a recording today from Steve of another tune for the above, but not one which I'd known for anything before- if you're interested let me know and I'll send it to you- it's a really pretty one), I figured I'd share. So...
Shir HaMa'alot (which also fits to all Kel Adon tunes from Shabbos Shacharit and vice versa, I'm told) fits to tunes for Lo Yisa Goy.
Yah Ribon fits (slightly creatively, but easily pick-up-able after singing it with someone once or maybe twice) to Simple Gifts ('Tis a gift to be simple, 'tis a gift to be free- the Shaker hymn). [I do wonder if therefore the reverse is true- I would be Really amused to hear those words to some of the other Yah Ribon tunes.]
There were more, but now I'm not remembering them. Shall perhaps add to this entry later.
