Which no, is not like Fishmas.

But however you want to categorize it, it went pretty well. We had 7 teams signed up. 4ish of those teams showed up- there was a 5th team that showed up and left to "get food" just before the game started, and they never returned, although some friend of theirs showed up, waited for them and eventually left. But our 4 teams all ended up with 3 people at least for part of the time, as 2 folks showed up without having signing up, and were actually welcomed onto teams that had only 2 people: it worked out really well. And all the preparations went well: we did a lot of stuff this mornign that I'd expected to have been done last night, like cutting out tokens that didn't get used for players who were injured/disgraced/cursed and the like. And it somehow all came together quite well- the costuming really helped, even though at least a few of us did much of it this morning: I know I did. The funny part was that the majority of my costume consisted of thigns I wear on a regular basis, some even together- but draping a large scarf over my head and keeping it on with a headband rather than tying it and using clips seemed to make a dramatic difference, and it somehow looked somewhat actually oracular, or some such. There were photos taken at the end, so once they're put online somewhere, I'll try and steer interested parties to them. They were all taken in Shwartz, making an amusing sequel, in my head, to the play pictures from the year before last. The feel, to me, was somewhat similar- that feeling of excitement, eccentricity and accomplishment at pulling off something rather ridiculous that I'd put a good bit of work and of, well, self into, even if I formally did much less work than say, [livejournal.com profile] ladynomi. And afterwards, I (and the rest of the committee folks) was completely drained: I don't know how these events take it out of one so much, but they pretty much always seem to do so. Afterwards, and after we took pictures and did a bunch of the clean-up, there was definitely a point where pretty much everyone was sort of sitting/lying on the stage in Shwartz and drooping.

Seeing everyone in costume, with all the props and rooms set up was a definite high. The other was, for me, seeing one of the groups try to wake the ogre 3 times before actually succeeding- it was really quite amusing, and they were quite good-spiritted about it.

It was funny how there was this combination of archetype and wish-fulfillment stuff going on with the non-player characters: I mean, I was the oracle, [livejournal.com profile] ladynomi was a musical fairy with a tendency to be flippant and pouty, steve was an ogre, which he seemed to get some sort of special enjoyment from, Steve was a "sexy bandit" (as usual, BORG spans the very wide range of attitudes towards such issues, and the interactions get pretty funny) which seemed to suit her quite well in some very basic way... I don't know- it was just this sort of impression I got, without That much to back it up with.
