I realized this morning that I'd missed a faculty meeting at work yesterday- totally forgotten about it. But apparently my boss wasn't there- she got back from Israel sometime yesterday, and I have a feeling that my other colleague wasn't there either- he's currently in NYC having his interview for rabbinical school (HUC, I'm fairly sure). So it was much less disasterous than it might have been. So that was ok. And since the latter wasn't at work today, we had all the 5th grade together and did an immitation Shabbos dinner with the kids, which lacked the spirit of the real thing, but got a little bit of something across, I hope. I do wish I could bring them something more real- but I have no idea how that would work at all. In any case, it was something, and I got to read a story for them which I rather enjoyed, and which they stayed quiet for- a very nice thing.

In more disasterous news, our toilet is majorly clogged again. And then one of the apartmentmates tried Drano or some equivalent, and it didn't help- in fact, it only made the situation worse, we think. (Now not only is the guck in there gross and septic, it's also probably toxic.) So hopefully our landlady will manage to send a plumber reasonably soon, although I'm not at all sure that this will happen. I need to send my rent in- I think a small letter about the state of our toilet will accompany it.

On the lighter side, I had a very nie lunch with [Unknown site tag] yesterday. And I have a meeting scheduled with my advisor for tomorrow afternoon, after an interview for my thesis with a wonderfully helpful friend. Then I can do writing at night. I'm up to 21-ish pages of thesis. And thanks to some help from [livejournal.com profile] smartphil, I now know the general length I'm aiming for (50-100 sounds so much less scary than 100-125, which is what I was afraid it was, from some comments I sort of remember [livejournal.com profile] fleurdelis28 making, ages ago), but I also know that I ought to have had a set of readers a month ago, and as far as I know, I don't. Wish me luck- I may very well need it.
