Silly Purim Songs

Monday we sang a few Purim songs with the kids at Hebrew school, one of which was the "oh today we'll merry, merry be" one- I always forget the title. But the lyrics were just different enough that they totally lost my favorite verse (the one that made the whole ridiculous thing worthwhile), for its sheer irony/anachronism/etc
"But Mordechai, her cousin bold
said What a dreadful chutzpah.
If guns were but invented yet,
this Haman I would shoot, sir."

Yes it's violent, and yes the 'rhyme' is bad. But it was one of those things I gloried in throughout my childhood religious life. And they had something else in its stead. I was surprised at how much I missed it.
