It was a very quiet Shabbos- everyone was out Friday night, so I read and daydreamed. This morning I somehow was not in the mood to go to shul and was just generally mildly out of sorts somehow, so I went back to sleep for quite a while. Then the family spent a good chunk of the afternoon watching videos, so I read some more, and that was most of the day. So, over the course of the time, I reread the first three of the Enchanted Forrest Chronicles, and started in on a book Mom is loaning me- The Orientalist, by Tom Reiss. She originally told me just to read the introduction, as the rest of the book was sort of uneven, but I'm now over a hundred pages into the main text, and it's been really good. It's pretty darn captivating.

This evening we went out to the movies and sat The Queen. I really liked it, over all. It really showed a very interesting culture clash, which is always an interest of mine. And, having been watching West Wing reruns of late, I was really interested in how differently government officials were portrayed, as far as the pomp and circumstance involved, and their living situations. The portrayals of their environments and the attitudes and manners of the people around them are remarkably different in tone.
