This was an interesting shabbos: had dinner by [livejournal.com profile] wildblueyonder2 with a rather eclectic crowd of folks coming from some rather significantly different worldviews, after a rather odd walk with Steve who kept starting and then cutting off conversations. But it is nice having someone to walk with in the lousy weather, so it worked well enough anyways. I stayed at JTS for davening, and led Psukei D'Zimra by default: there were 3 of us there on time, and one was gabbaying, and the other said he didn't know the nusakh. I was supposed to read 2 aliyot, but gave one away to a colleague who had been supposed to be layning at a shul about an hour away and couldn't go because of the weather. Lunch was fun, and after shabbos I spent a quiet evening crocheting at Steve's place.

Today was fairly quiet: we didn't make a minyan, again- I think maybe next week we really should try Steve's suggestion of "bring a buddy to minyan day". Not sure what buddy I can dredge up, but we keep getting close, so... Then I vegged out a bit, took a long nap in an attempt not to catch the case of the icks that a number of folks have around here, hung out a bit more, called home, did homework and such. Steve dropped by to kvetch a bit and discuss her trip, and then there was dancing. The usual teacher wasn't there, and the person who was teaching definitely played some things that don't belong at an oldies session at all- most obviously and notable Nof Yaldut. Grr. I have nothing against newer dances, but they aren't supposed to be played there, and if you're going to break the rules, at least break them with something really worthwhile. There was also some scolding about people not obeying the rules about keeping food out of the studio itself and not bringing peanuts and such. Made for an interesting night. That and the new woman who decided to do the "I know so much about JTS and rabbinical students" sappy thing. And this was the second or third time that Steve has been asked if he's a rab student/goes to JTS while hanging around with me. Oh yes, and I also got asked if I was getting all my family to wear kippot. Weird.
