I got back home from Florida about an hour ago, and I should be asleep right now. But in the meantime- it was a fascinating long weekend.
jakal88's family was not what I was expecting- but I did get a chance to really talk with his mother for a while, which was quite pleasant and I feel like I'm starting to get to know her a bit for real. Staying with my grandmother was very nice, but it was certainly a crash course in trying to be the middle piece of an interaction- especially since
jakal88 wasn't quite up for speaking loudly for the hard of hearing, and my grandmother had some plans for the visit that weren't of so much interest for him- but over all, I think everyone got along pretty well and ended up liking each other, at least as far as I could see.
While there I had several really odd and seemingly irrelevant dreams, about things like being part of a minyan in a basement where the people seemed to flow in and out without any real decision-making going on, and where someone handed me an old-fashioned telephone (with someone calling me) in the middle of leading services.
And now I'm really curious and a little worried about how much I missed at Drisha, but I'm pretty sure I'll catch up pretty reasonably.
Hopefully there will be a more thoughtful post soon- I'm going to want to write it. But for now, hopefully this will be enough to let me sleep peacefully.
