Passover INsanity Update

We have 3 haggadot (for 5 people- guess we can share)

How the heck does one grind an orange? It seems somewhat counter intuitive. Hopefully chopping it instead will work...

Grinding an orange sounds rather a lot like juicing it. Perhaps it meant to grind the skin.

In my new haggadah, which is a facsimile of a fifteenth-century highly illuminated Italian manuscript (with full transcription and translation in the back), there is a picture of 8 men sitting around the Seder table sharing four haggadot.

Yes, they're only men. Sharing appears to be traditional, though.

Hurray!

As things worked out, my grandfather just sat there, and refused to use a Haggadah, and Dad and I shared, since the other ones we found in the shelves were the super-short variation. THe problem with sharing before was that my grandfather is legally blind- sharing a text with him is a recipe for failure to be able to read it all around...

i make a tip-to-toe incision in membrane around each individual slice and empty its contents into a bowl.

Sounds like you have experience. Shall have to try it this way next time. THis time it came out basically as marmalade, but with pieces of raisins in it too.

You run it through a food mill.

I went with the bought-at-a-tag-sale blender, which is the closest thing we had. With the aid of some added orange juice, and pre-chopping the raisins- otherwise they just bounced up and down in the blender and made interesting noises.
