OK- Naomi's here, the holiday has had an ambivalent start (the Purim party was sort of lacking in energy and too loud, but fun at times), I like my costume (Princess Aura, in my attempt to prove that I can too be an evil space princess, or something of the like), but I think I may just wear my bathrobe tomorrow until I disappear into rehearsal land, and the rest is getting written about tomorrow. The amount of costume confusion and people borrowing my clothes is quite, quite a lot, and so there are Maya-posessions running rampant around campus. GO figure. More soon.

OK, this would be the story of my Purim this far with some details or at least some thoughts added. So, Shabbat was nice and generally just a lot of fun. Naomi met me at lunch on Friday, and we came back and assembled our mishloach manot. I'm not actually sure how many I made, but with the reserve of 5 or so for my HaMakor folks, everyone else just gets them as I see them- I never quite made up a list of to whom I was going to give them. They'll get given, in some way or another.
But in any case- Shabbat. Dinner was pleasant, although we ended up with too many people at the table, and
sharonasf and Shlomiya ended up going to eat downstairs, because the room was just too full (that doesn't happen often- Purim brings a lot of guests), so after we ate, Dave, his dad and I went down to see them, and ran into a whole bunch of other BORGlings (I swear, that play has eaten my life). After dinner there was semi-organized singing, and we eventually adjourning first in the direction of
tovah623 and then in that of
thevortex. It was, I suppose, fairly usual Shabbat-evening activity, but was generally just sort of light-hearted and heavily emotive than usual. Of course, I'm nearly the queen of heavy emoting, so... Shabbat day consisted of the usual quantities of shul, planned naps that went unnapped, and hanging out. The megillah reading followed directly, and went pretty well. It's funny how the actual megillah puts far more emphasis on things that they never talk about in Hebrew School- all this fighting business, and numbers of people killed, and that sort of thing. In Hebrew School, we mostly just got the middle chapters. That said, I'm glad I'm just reading part of chapter 1, so I don't have to worry about waiting for Haman-noise to die down.
As megillah reading directly followed Shabbat, I got changed afterwards. And somehow my room became costume central. Naomi was of course here, changing, and Brenna came by as well, as she'd left her costume here. And Miriam came by to hang out until Amanda was ready. And Dave met me here. And Naomi H. also came so that I coud get her dressed- she borrowed my costume from last year that
zachkessin made for me (still sadly unhemmed- that's one of those things I should do sometime soon, really.) That was amusing, as we had to belt and safety pin it rather dramatically, as she's about half my size. She's really rather tiny.
THe Purim party itsef was somewhat lacking in the right energy for me. I needed either a bit hora-type energy so I could just do the mayim in circles for hours routine, or somewhat more freedom to just do whatever. I did the latter some, but that's never been my preferred sort of dance. Oh well. It was fun enough. TOday- I haven't the foggiest what I'm doing, but I'm off to megillah reading.
