Today was quiet: went for a long walk with
doctor_nine, a shorter one with my mother, and started getting de-rusted in my driving. Talked very briefly with Mom about maybe getting Dad's car for next year- he's pretty much ready for a new one, and I learned to drive on his car anyways. And it would be awfully useful for getting groceries- shopping by bike/bus is an awful pain when you're trying to get more than just munchies/one-time cooking supplies. Also for dancing, HaMakor rehearsals and the like. I love public transit, but the buses just don't quite work well enough to cover everything that far out.
Random thought prompted by the gardens at home: I do wonder if I could get Nasturtium seeds and plant some in a pot next year, and be able to use them for snacks/salads. They're awfully pretty, and they do taste good. (Nasturtiums are a flowering plant with round leaves and red, yellow or orange flowers- both leaves and flowers are edible and sort of peppery.) I'm not always patient enough for plain flower plants, but things that are edible/useful provoke significantly more interest from me. There's something about growing one's own food that's awfully rewarding. This year at home we're mostly just doing a bunch of peas- and a volunteer lettuce. And the strawberries, if we can get to them before the squirrels do. We had some moderate success last year- hopefully it'll continue. Someday I want a real fruit/vegetable/herb garden of my own. And then I can give away my own excess squash rather than my parents' excess squash. (Or substitute cabbage, beets, cucumbers, basil, or tomatoes, depending on the year)
Lastly, a meme from
belu, etc:
Why did you friend me?
IF you care to, add this to your own journal.
If the question is too dull/obvious, feel free to supply a somehow related question and answer that.
