Not a happy sort of first for my driving career here. Not tragic, just inconvenient. And being me, and not knowing what a flat tire feels like from inside the car, it got pretty darn bad before we finally pulled over- [Unknown site tag] thought it was just that I hadn't driven the car in about 2 weeks, due to all the holidays. But it kept getting worse rather than better. (We'd been on our way to Staples to get a router for the internet so we can all use it at once, and maybe to Target for a dish rack.) So I called Dad, and he had me check for a flat tire and there it was, a really remarkable flat tire. So I called AAA, and then after I hung up with them, looked for the spare tire and didn't see it, since it's under the trunk, which I hadn't known/remembered. And then I called Dad, and he told me where it was. And then we sat around for a while, and although the folks on the phone said they were backed up and would be there within 90 minutes rather than the hour they are supposed to go for, the guy got there within about 45 minutes, and put on the spare quickly, and was mildly surprised at quite how destroyed the tire was, but was very nice and answered my questions and told me where the nearest tire place was, etc. Very nice man. And then we came home. So- no router, and I'll need to go to the tire place tomorrow morning after minyan. Glad I'm not cooking for chag. In the meantime, I'm just a little shaky still. That should go away soon. Hopefulyl Biblical Hebrew homework will be just the right sort of distraction.
