Is it just me (or just this particular tube of toothpaste that I bought last time I went shopping), or does regular Crest toothpaste really taste like root beer soda?

Shabbos was quiet: the usual mix of food, shul, sleep and reading- and a brief go through of Brikh SHmeih with one of the apartmentmates to get a sense of what was going on, and (for me) to practice a little Aramaic recognition. And Saturday night I mostly read.

Today was quiet in the morning and early afternoon. And then I went over to [livejournal.com profile] orawnzva and [livejournal.com profile] fiddledragon's for their housewarming, to which I was invited in an impromptu manner (at least I presume [livejournal.com profile] orawnzva did not Plan to meet me while waiting for the bus to Newton and while I was walking to shul on Shabbos and thus to invite me at that point). Upon walking in, I saw [livejournal.com profile] tirerim whom I hadn't seen in almost 2 years, and met a series of people I had not previously met but I think I had occasionally heard of several of them- I'm just not sure Which several they were. It was a very nice event, and I stayed many hours longer than I had originally expected or planned to stay. This resulted in them going quite a bit out of their way to successfully feed me: they had a bowl they hadn't previously used, and some sort of Indian food that was intended to be cooked in the pouch-thing in which it came, and we kashered (with some degree of reliability- I'm not really sure that it was all metal, but it was definitely more than good enough for me) a spoon- and then I had to demonstrate my ability to use chopsticks in order to remove said spoon from boiling water. (As [livejournal.com profile] tirerim and [livejournal.com profile] qianian were the people who tried to teach me to use chop sticks the time previous to my muscles finally figuring it out at a later date, this made me proud in a rather ridiculous fashion.) I had a lovely time, and met someone I may get interested in IFD, who'll also be in NYC next year- and if nothing else, I ought to be able to find information on international folkdance via Steve for her. Oh yes, and I managed some mild confusion or something of the like in regards to my memories of [livejournal.com profile] qianian with very long hair, large plastic glasses and clothing that her mother probably helped her choose. I wonder if I have pictures from then- I don't think I do off hand, but someone ought to...

And then I called [livejournal.com profile] zodiacmg on my way home, apparently about 30 seconds before he was about to call me- but before his mother realized he was awake as well as home: so he answered, and she picked up the phone and at the same time as I asked if he were home (after he'd answered and I was fairly sure it was him) said "No"- and then realized that he was indeed awake.

And now it's showertime and bedtime before my last 3 days of work.
