Today had brought some improvements over yesterday's insanity. I went to minyan this morning (and we surprisingly made an actual minyan) and had some nice chitter-chatter at their Friday morning breakfast afterwards. (There was a sudden surge of interest in my relationship status- during the course of breakfast I had one person ask if Steve who will be [livejournal.com profile] zodiacmg's apartmentmate next year was my boyfriend, and another ask if I were married, besides the other person who suggested that I'd get to NYC, meet 'someone special' and settle down there.)

And when I checked my phone messages after breakfast and a brief excursion to CVS, I found that my luggage has returned to Logan airport- so this afternoon will quite likely include a trip there to acquire said luggage, so I guess I should be able to get some mending or some such done while on the bus.

And best of all, I have company for Shabbat dinner now: I sent notes to [livejournal.com profile] ergood, [livejournal.com profile] orawnzva and [livejournal.com profile] fiddledragon when I knew that I would be here for Shabbat (by apartmentmate express in one case- she was walking by anyways), and all three have said they will cheerfully come to dinner. I think this may be a good excuse for matzah-ball soup. We'll see what sort of menu evolves.

(On the less cheerful side, my computer refuses to connect to the internet now. I may go see if the nice people at UNET will still help me, and/or try to persuade one of [livejournal.com profile] zodaicmg's former suitemates to help me. But if these do not turn out well, I may have a long Sunday on the phone the tech support in my future. Wish me luck.)

I brought Marvin to UNET and Steve (which turned out to be a one-stop thing: Steve Is most of UNET this summer, at least through today), and he seems to have removed the nasties, or at least as many as he could find. He says other than that, all I should do is boot in safe mode and run a scan there once a week to make sure things are ok. If not, then I may need to start from scratch. So hopefully it really as is better. And somehow that combined with turning the modem off and on again fixed the getting onto the internet problem.

On the other hand, by the time I got home (a few minutes ago) it would be too tight a schedule to get to the airport to retrieve the suitcase and get back with enough time to cook and get ready for Shabbos. So I'll go Sunday, even though that'll mean negotiating the Sunday weirdness on the MBTA.
