I walked over to the Columbia bookstore to finally pick up a few binders today, and as I was walking by Columbia, someone walked by and said, slightly tentatively and with a clear lack of actual knowledge of Hebrew- "Shalom" and kept walking the other way. A strange experience just blocks from the seminary, where people of both genders in kippot are not exactly an uncommon experience.

In other words, I took the last 45 minutes to make flashcards of assorted Hebrew and Aramaic vocab that has come up in classes, and started a set of flashcards to go with those of talmudic figures and their appropriate time period, to which I hope to add relevant details as I learn them. Now I have something to occupy myself in my theoretical free time.

Now on to the more precise homework for a bit- translation here I come.
