It is powerfully windy out, and I'm finding that the tree by my window is very, very flexible. I've had some moments where those tree branches sweep against my window like those long flaps at a car wash, only with leaves. It gets rather exciting...

Shabbos was nice: tried out Hadar for Friday night, was too distracted to really get a sense of what I think of it- as often happens my first time someplace. There were lots of pretty tunes that I'd never heard before, but none that were really catchy for me. Tons of people I knew or recognized though: go figure. It's time for me to start getting to know the larger Jewish community and the different options for davenen here, which feels strange, as I tend to be the sort of person who picks a community and sticks with it and devotes significant energy to it. But well, there are options, and it would be good to get to know them some... Had dinner at Steve's place, which involved good food and good company- and staying late with Steve and Steve for some much needed girl talk: some things are very hard to bring up to talk about, and they still need figuring out. Shul in the morning was very crowded, and then finding my lunch guests took some waiting and mild confusion. But it worked out, and lunch turned out to be quite pleasant, if not as organized as it should have been- I guess that's par for the course, one's first meal having guests in a new home, especially one as oddly set-up as this one is. And then I accidentally slept through mincha, and was on my way to hang out for seudah shlishit when I ran into Steve, and ended up talking a walk by the local park instead. It was a nice walk- and nice to know of someone else here who likes walking.
