This morning after breakfast I had a brief "interview", and have established that I do have some work for the month that I'm here- I'm going to be shelving in the library, 4 hours a day. Hardly strenuous, and certainly not intellectually stimulating, but it's soothing, a source of some reliable income, and something to structure my days some.
Today I took my next-to-last final, and at the end, after being asked what I thought what I'd learned this year was and what I needed to work on, my Miqraot Gdolot teacher told me that if I wanted to push for a chance to accelerate my program here, he'd be happy to push for it, or if I wanted to do more advanced work or something of the sort.
Also, I found out through another hallmate that one of my hallmates is engaged. He and his fiancee have been together about 3 months- but they're older, so I guess it makes sense that they didn't want to take so long, and he's been out at her place in Brooklyn almost all the time for the last while, so I guess it isn't surprising.
I got, but have not yet set up, a new cellphone, after having my old one since sophomore year of college. We'll see how well I learn to use the thing.
Tonight I had a while of feeling sort of end-of-the-year/summer-time lonely, just because people are heading out and such, even though most of my friends are still around, and enough of them aren't really going away so fast, if at all. Luckily for me, I was meeting Steve to learn already, which is usually cheering, and then
gimmelgirl let me come over and talk for a while. There's something very calming about friends who have been friends for a good chunk of years- it was good for me.
Tomorrow, I have my last final, which I've studied for so sporadically that I can't tell if I'm prepared or not, and I just have very little motivation to study. Hopefully it will go well. It isn't until afternoon, so I'll have some time to review tomorrow, in any case. But well, we'll see. Also for tomorrow: layning to learn, and a cellphone to set up.
