I'm studying for my Talmud final now, and one of the passages we're supposed to prepare is the first amud of gemara that we did this semester. It also happens to be the first amud of gemara I ever looked at (albeit in English) with a chevruta on our own (with
nuqotw, my freshman year of college at 8:00 am). Going from that first look where the English (Artscroll) was horridly confusing, to looking at it in the original text at the beginning of the semester was pretty nifty- but there was this section that I just couldn't get the hang of then.
I just reviewed it- that section makes pretty reasonable sense. It's still a bit of a weird passage for me- but I can read through it and know what's going on. Now on to the other two sections of just gemara, which are not quite as solid in my head, and then the Tosafot and such.
