Today as a school day was lovely: I had Codes, with the same teacher as last year, and about the same folks as my Talmud class (minus the one grad student). I think it should work well. The readings are going to be the same as last year- so I'm going to get different ones, and I get to read Rabbi Roth's book as one set of them. Then I met with my Talmud chevruta, which when alright, and I think will go better as we get comfortable with each other and get to know what we each know and don't know. I don't think we're terribly mismatched as far as levels go either- clearly he knows a bit more, but not so much that I feel like he's teaching me. I had a little time to run errands during lunch, and then I went to go check out an Aramaic class- which turned out to be canceled for today, because the teacher wasn't feeling well. Since it's once a week, I was a little stressed about that, since I wouldn't get a chance to see how it is now until next week already. However, I'm not worried about it, because then I checked out a course on Jurisprudential theory and Halakha, which was really, really interesting. So it'll be a busy semester- but it seems like it'll be worth it.

Right after class, I met with Steve to learn, for the first time in about a month, I think, due to various scheduling issues (him needing to spend full days doing stuff for his upcoming wedding, my being out of town for a week and a half, etc- on the other hand, I did get the invitation to his wedding, and he's inviting [livejournal.com profile] jakal88 to come with me, which is quite unexpected, and very welcome, for all that I know that that is hardly required or encouraged by Miss Manners, etc). We spent a lot of the time catching up- we did some learning, but very little. Next time should be better in that regard, I presume.

From there, I went into final-touches mode for InterSeminary Dialogue, and thanks to the help of [livejournal.com profile] shirei_shibolim and [livejournal.com profile] wilperegrine, everything got to the right place at the right time. About 30 people showed up, and the whole thing went very well. I'm thrilled and relieved, and now just need to be reimbursed for the various expenses. Afterwards I got taken along to a Rabbinical and Cantorial School get together at a local bar for a bit. It was very loud, somewhat awkward, and I could have had the same conversations rather more easily elsewhere.

I came home, spoke to [livejournal.com profile] jakal88, and am about ready for bed. I'm just mildly melancholy: it was very nice actually being in the same place, and readjusting to being in NYC when he's rather significantly elsewhere is leaving me just a tiny bit down right now. Usually I'm used to it and all is fine, but tonight I'm wishing we could actually see each other more often.
