Because I need a break from the paper (which is progressing- I'm partway through my 12th page). By the time I finish this, perhaps I'll be able to decide if I want to go back to work or go to sleep.
A variation on the ipod oracle:
Put your MP3 player on shuffle, and then write down the first line of each of the first twenty songs. Post the 'poem' that results. The first line of the twenty-first song is the title.
As usual, foreign languages that I don't care to translate, recorded lectures, and instrumental tracks excluded. Also, stanzas have been formed and punctuated arbitrarily. Feel free to include the translations as part of the poetry.
Salsa
Boi Kallah, Boi Kallah, Boi (Come bride, come bride, come)...
There's a part of the country would drop off tomorrow in an earth quake
Back in ancient times, loving was a crime
The world we knew has passed away
Oh, Ooh, Ay, ay, ay, Bom, Bom, Biddi-biddi-bom
Nifgashnu Me'uchar MiDai (We met too late)
Put me up, put me down, put my feet back on the ground
Rak Lehistakel El HaShamayim (Only look to the sky)
I was your boyfriend when we were 15
Roll 'em girl, roll 'em (10)
It's coming through a hole in the air
(A long trail you'll find me lopin' where the spaces are wide open)
Ani ma'amin b'viat hamashiach (I believe in the coming of the messiah)
I wonder how many people here tonight remember Hubert Humphrey, he used to be a senator
Lalalalalala...
There were major headlines in the news today, it turns out Britney Spears is breathing still
(Eini yodea im hayiti melekh, aval at hayit nesikhati [I don't know if I was a king, but you were my princess])
We are the folksong army, every one of us Cares
Gather round while I sing you of Werner Fun Braun
I heard there was a secret chord that David played and it pleased the Lord...
[Well- love, politics, geography and religion. Not bad. But it was accomplished by skipping a Lot of insturmentals and Hebrew and Yiddish songs that I was too lazy to translate.]
