I just had a dream in which I wandered into some sort of chavurah-type minyan over at Quinipiac (a local college here at home), except that after a while it turned out that mostly they got together and sang folk songs.

Sounds like fun in a meaningful but non-deist sort of way. I take it that that's the idea?

Possibly. Alternately, it could be an indirect approach to experiencing God.
