Yesterday there were some very practical orientation things going on, some of which were rather tense and a bit too long (the health insurance And facilities And safety in the area And financial aid/bursar/registration talk was long and tense and oof). On the other hand, I had the least useful walking tour I've ever been on. IT was raining so we didn't leave the building, and besides that, we only went to places we'd already been, not say, walking around the areas with classrooms, or finding out where we could and couldn't just walk around the whole square of the building. But afterwards [livejournal.com profile] shirei_shibolim took me on a walk to the grocery store, or one of them, and I picked up a couple random useful food items. The prices were expensive and cheap in very random seeming patterns- or well, lack of patterns. And the cabbage was sold with useless outer leaves still on. Go know. And then at night I talked to my parents, and [livejournal.com profile] zodiacmg, who has now moved into his new apartment, but is having all sorts of beginning of the school year insanity.

Today has been interesting- there's been some very interesting and inspirational stuff: there was a very good shiur about what it means to love G-d, some of which was already familiar to me from previous discussions and real life, as it were, but it was very well taught. It did give me some interesting things to think about in terms of what sort of education I want in terms of my texts: how much of my personal relationship with the texts ought to be in class, etc. I'm not sure of my answer yet, but that is something I need to keep in mind as I make decisions, I think.

And [livejournal.com profile] gimmelgirl may be lending me her old computer until my computer situation is ressolved one way or the other. This will be very handy and very reassuring. I tend to feel better having a way to access the rest of the world outside of the hours that the computer lab is open, without worrying about waking people up, etc...
