Is it my hometown or what?

Is it just that I'm from Hamden, CT, or do the five kings who hide in a cave at Makkedah after being defeated by Joshua sound like they gave the three judges their idea of where to hide (not that Three Judges Cave is so much a cave as it is a bunch of Really Large Rocks)?

Three Judges? Elaborate?

Ah- perhaps this is a piece of history taught mostly locally. The three judges were the folks involved in sentencing Charles I to death under Cromwell, and then they had to flee for their lives when Charles II took the throne. They came and hid in the New Haven area at West Rock, in a cave/bunch of rocks. Eventually they were found and executed. Said geological formation is now called 3 Judges Cave.

Someone correct me if I have details wrong.
