Really and Truly, I Couldn't Make This Up

So- Israeli Folkdance- there really and truly is a line dance to Hine Ma Tov sung with heavy Ashkenazi accents, choreographed by a man with the name of Silvio Berlfein, from I-forget-where in South America or such. Yes, [livejournal.com profile] hannahlin this isn't new news, but well- I was just watching it on Les' website, and it struck me, again, and I had to share.

Yes, and I shudder every time I have to hear it (which is often, cause I live in Philadelphia, where babies dance). It's the Miami Boys Choir singing, I believe, but I wish someone had told them that they were going to sound funny this way. I'm almost able to appreciate Shlomie Dachs et al. at this point, but I still can't ever tell what they're trying to say.

Hineh Ma Tov

The really shocking thing is that it was choreographed by a South American. With all that Ashkenaz, I would think it would have to be North American. Generally I hate this accent, but in this one case I can stand it for oh, about 3 minutes.
