Really and Truly, I Couldn't Make This Up

So- Israeli Folkdance- there really and truly is a line dance to Hine Ma Tov sung with heavy Ashkenazi accents, choreographed by a man with the name of Silvio Berlfein, from I-forget-where in South America or such. Yes, hannahlin this isn't new news, but well- I was just watching it on Les' website, and it struck me, again, and I had to share.

With that last name, Silvio probably Is Ashkenazi. In fact, lots of South American Jews are- and they ended up there during/after the Holocaust, because those countries would take them in when the US of A wouldn't... Not that you don't know this. But- well: just because they speak Spanish doesn't mean their ancestors didn't speak Hebrew with sovs, aws, and in some cases probably even oi's.
