It's funny- I usually have a pretty lousy, or at least inactive, sense of smell. But certain things set it off like nobody's business (not, generally unpleasantly: along with not having much of a sense of smell, it also sometimes takes me a bit to realize that a smell is completely disgusting)- and they often trigger associations/memories. All the perfumes/colognes seem to bring up associations of dance camp. And those are some of the things that I seem to notice most often. Odd, that. I wonder why I notice those so much. Or why I notice the scent at camp much less lately: it used to be a major part of what I noticed when I got to camp. Maybe the bulk of way-over-done perfume users has gone down?

Smell is often strongly linked to memory. Relatedly, of all the senses, smell is the one that most often causes people to commit suicide when they lose it (which is a rather morbid statistic, but really interesting from a psychological standpoint).
