Today was long, with some real highs, a few minor lows, and a few bits of mild anxiety. And we now have a router, but my long cord has been appropriated and I've been forbidden to touch the cords except to plug my comptuer into the one left for me- which doesn't reach anywhere near where my computer lives when it's plugged in and attached to the printer. Grrr. This qualifies as unacceptable for the long run. Especially as I bought the router. Which oughtn't matter, but in my primitive brain, it seems to.

I keep hearing the beginnings of Amy's songs and thinking they're dances until they get past the second bar and of course aren't. But that last one sounded disarmingly like a dance I learned at my first dance camp and haven't heard since except on the video from that camp...

Without your cable, there wasn't a way to hook up the router, so . . . I figured better to get the router working (especially when I could kidnap Gandhi and have him set up our network and make sure we're as secure as we can be) than to keep having to switch the connection between our computers with all the mishegoss that entailed. I told Ameleh to tell you that we'd get a new and longer cord today (though thankfully, as you saw, I salvaged one from the junk pit that is my bedroom) -- if she didn't pass along that message, then I give her a virtual slap on the wrist.

If we had been able to hook up the router without using your cable, obviously we would have done it, but we couldn't. (If you want a technical explanation, which I highly doubt you do, I can give one.) And obviously I wouldn't have left you in the lurch for the "long run" -- have a little faith.

Don't worry about it- I was just really cranky because it was late at night and I was tired, and therefore I wasn't totally under control. Amy didn't pass along anything but "don't unplug anything and you can just move your computer to where the cord reaches". I blame the whole misunderstanding on it being after midnight. (ALso, I keep wanting to write chord instead of cord. Ahh, the joys of having been a high school music geek.)

I don't mind at all that my cord was used. Really. I was just at the time annoyed that my cord had been used in order to make things more difficult for me to use them. But life has been solved. Now I just need to incorporate the strategic placement of cords into my scheduled cleaning time Friday afternoon so they aren't right across the middle of the floor if I can find a way to not have them there quite as much.
