Shabbos this week was an interesting mix- Em helped me make dinner last night: we improvized a rather good vegetable pot-pie. I'm not sure what makes it a pot-pie: it was made in a regular pie dish. But it came out well. Then my family watched Coupling all night until bedtime and I reread the Patricia C. Wrede Encahnted Forest Chronicles.

Shul was odd- the 3rd grade helped during services, and towards the end, there was a sudden profusion of kids- 2nd 3rd and I think 4th. With them all there, the room was nearly full. One wonders what it would have been like if their parents had actually stayed instead of just dropping them off. It seems rather odd to me, to have parents drop their children off at shul on Shabbos and then leave, when they're already there, even. I'd always presumed that this was just a fairly small congregation- but with that many kids, it must not be. I really wonder what the high holidays there must be like: even with the doors openned and the social hall full of chairs, it must be way overfull. On the other hand, they sang Psalm 150, which makes a second psalm between Barukh She'Amar and Nishmat.

And as soon as I got home, Dad told me my new glasses were in, and he'd walk me to go get them. So I did- since I carry when I'm home anyways, and they were already paid for, and the place isn't open on Sundays (and I'm going back to school sometime tomorrow). It felt a little weird, but I was nervous about having them shipped to me. So now I have them, and I'm just getting used to them.

Took me a second to figure out what was meant by that. Then I got it, and was a little depressed.

Yeah- it's rather sad. But I was awfully excited when they did get to Ps. 150 yesterday: now we can only hope that this is something they keep doing.

I LOVE the Enchanted Forest Chronicles!! I've wanted to read her other books, but never got around to them -- have you read any of them?
