Weird

About 10% more of the students we surveyed for class refrain from handling money on Shabbat as participate in multiple special Shabbat meals each week (e.g. both a special dinner and a special lunch, or a special dinner and seudat shlishit, or all three). One wonders what the other people are doing- and what they're eating.

Who were the students who answered the questions? Were they Brandeisians, or from somewhere else?

All Brandeisians. It was a class project on the Brandeis Jewish student body.

That actually makes perfect sense to me, because it's far easier to refrain from handling money than it is to make a big deal out of what you're going to do for food. Even last year, when I was on a meal plan, I ate in my room at least half the time.

I can go days at Brandeis without handling actual money, and I can go for at least 24 hours if not more without using my ID to pay for anything.
