1. I found out that one can sing Lekha Dodi to the tune of Etz HaRimon. It of course takes a while- but this time of year, that isn't a problem. It was lovely, although I think other people might have been confused that I knew the tune already, since no one else seemed to, near me.

2. I am quite amazed at the number of people who show up for senior sermons. I'm still not exactly sure what makes them, in particular, such major rites of passage. It's a definite part of the culture here, but I'm not really sure how the whole thing works yet.

3. Large group potluck shabbos lunches can be a lot of fun, but are possibly inherently poorly organized. They also seem to assemble a very odd, and not always perfectly compatible group of folks. But well, perhaps that isn't so terrible: everyone ends up with Someone with whom to talk.

4. I had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] gimmelgirl and company, which was really lovely. And one of her guests was someone I'd met at KOACH Kallah and had had a pleasant conversation or two with, so it was a pleasant surprise to run into him again, and quite lovely to get to spend some social time with the hosts, and to get to know the other guests some more (they were all folks I'd met in assorted settings, but never in any depth).
