In two classes today several of my peers were playing games on their computers during class. This really confuses me. I mean, if the classes were perpetually boring, I could kind of understand- in such contexts I tend to crochet or doodle. But well, it was either the second or third time the classes had met- far too early to Really know it'll be That bad. And well- the first tends to be dull but productive, and the second seems genuinely interesting. So- I'm a bit confused- especially about why they aren't giving the classes a shot before they decide classtime isn't deserving of focus.

I've started in on reorganizing my "bunches of stuff" bookshelf. Progress is being made, but there's now stuff on the floor that I haven't designated a place for. Ahh well, I'll figure it out soon enough.

I'm always very anal about how my books, CDs, DVDs, et cetera are organized. It bugs me that I don't actually have enough shelf space for all of my books (I have a lot of them stacked unceremoniously behind other books). And the current state of my CD collection is just criminal.. I'm stuck between the irrational need to alphabetize them all & being too lazy to do it (of course, alphabetizing CDs does make a nice change from translating Akkadian sometimes!)

The behavior of peers (and I do often use the term very loosely) in class often confuses me. We've all been in classes that were less interesting than watching grass grow, but I have also found myself in the situation you describe.. seeing people not even give the course a chance, or not paying enough attention to realize its interesting after all. Ah well.. what can you do?
