I danced a set tonight with a perfectly nice man I'd never met before who came across as almost a total non-entity. He was a reasonable lead, if not quite as firm as I'd usually like. He seemed friendly, but there just seemed to be no real personality involved. It was rather odd, in a cheerful, very, very normal sort of way.

Otherwise dancing was also sort of cheerful and nice without having a lot of character, tonight. Go know.

The nice thing about dancing is that you don't really have to talk much.

A friend of mine talks about how when he was in college (he's about my parents' age) one of the major appeals of folkdance was that you could interact with members of the opposite sex, and even interact one-on-one without actually having to make lots of conversation...
