These are the product of a JTS poetry reading/get-together/slam a few months ago, and I both thought that they were worth sharing, and wanted to have a record of them and not have to keep the pieces of paper around. So here are some haiku written by committee, as it were. Each person wrote a first line, threw the paper into the center of the circle, got a new piece of paper, wrote a second line, etc. I hope you enjoy them.

Once upon a time
When Manhattan was still bare
Golden starlight burned.

Twilight falls bitter
cold but not only for me
you were found by moon.

my left hand lingers
My right hand has forgotten
how to come to rest.

Golden spatulas
stir a bubbling mass of
baby's breath and sky.

Flower Power Sour
Hippie mama jamma, we
Seek fleeting wisdom.

These are lovlier by far
Than a journey to a star;
Baby's breath and sky,
Are a reason not to sigh;
What my left hand does not do,
I will leave, my love, to you.
and, when I need a smile,
I will think of you awhile.
What my heart has left unsaid,
will not be found in books unread.
what a wonder we enjoy
whether we be girl or boy.
