This is Me, Not So Happy with the Airplanes...

<lj user=""jaal88"> was supposed to be getting here tonight.  His flight was cancelled.  Instead, he'll be getting up absurdly early, and arriving here around 7:30 am (I'm not sure if that's when his plane lands, or when he gets to me- find out when we talk tonight, I guess).  Awfully frustrating...  I'm really not so happy with the way companies are cancelling flights left, right and center, these days.   The bus may take longer, but at least it's generally reliable- it may be late, but it'll get there eventually, and they don't just cancel that bus...

I've had commuter buses canceled on me, but in general you're right. Airlines are under a lot of pressure to spend as little money as possible, which often means running skeleton crews everywhere. That means that if just one crew member is indisposed for any reason, they have to cancel a flight. Since one reason for lacking a crew member is that his flight into the departure city was delayed or canceled, there's a bit of a chain effect.

His flight was probably canceled due to dangerously high winds in the city tonight. Can't blame that on the airlines. Just be thankful he's safe.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing about the weather. There were supposed to be wind gusts up to 60 mph today - a rather legitimate reason for a cancellation.

That having been said, I can still see why you'd be frustrated.

That's sucky. I'm sorry.
