To work backwards from my title- I got the oddest email inviting me to a career fair where all the companies hiring were sports companies. And I was told that I'd been specifically picked out for this. I am very, very confused. Ahh, spam-ish stuff.
Last night at dancing, Rafi taught Tof VeKinor, which I've seen occasionally for years, and really wanted to learn, since some folks had been asking for it. And since I'd said that I'd seen it before, he asked me to be the person demonstrating inside the circle across from him. I think I did a reasonable job, but it was, well, a bit intimidating. But it was also rather exciting- that sort of thing isn't something I'm often asked to do. Now I just hope that what he taught was actually right... (The rest of the night was quite nice too- better than usual programming, or something.)
Subbing yesterday (for my boss' class- she's off at a retreat for a week, and I'm covering her class) actually went pretty well- forgot to do one thing, but I can work it in tomorrow, and I kept everyone's attention reasonably well, and I think they had good discussion and learned pretty well. And well- reading prayers all together may be officially dull and old-fashioned, but it seems to really work: this class does it and has all year, and the otehr 5th grade just started doing so, and this class seems to be significantly better at Hebrew reading than the other. THere was a bit of excess-energy and lack of focus at the end, but in general all was well, and pretty much my only untoward comment was one kid suggesting that for one of their classmates, peace would be touching a chicken.
