Packing

Am writing a ton today because my brain has nothing to do while I'm packing but think random thoughts, some elucidating, many dumb.

However, I'm noticing exactly how much of my stuff is hand-me-downs of various sorts: my grandmother's old pots, some tablecloths from my great-grandma, shirts that have made the rounds between Mom, Em and I, etc. Some people I know furnish their apartments via midnight auto. I seem to be furnishing my via midnight attic.

I've got lots of kitchen hand-me-downs too and I don't even have a kitchen yet. I've got a whole set of beautiful dishes from my grandmother who just passed away. And when I actually have a kitchen, I'll probably take some of my other grandmother's as well.

It's good. Saves money. Good luck. You're in grad this year right?

No- living over Cappy's- no luck with housing lottery. On the other hand, I'm closer to campus than grad, and the housing is nominally cheaper. And I'll have a car without having to pay for a campus parking spot. So- maybe it's not such bad luck after all.

maya, that sounds fantastic! (i had forgotten about the housing dilemma-turned-loveliness.) i can't wait to see you when you get back! if you need help with the moving, please let me know, i am good at carrying thing.

Ooh- that might very well be very, very nice. Might you have time on Wednesday (when do you finish work?) to possibly hang around and keep me calm while I unpack for a bit? I'd love to see you...

Hmm. Wednesday doesn't end until 7.30, but hey! you are a crazy college kid, 8pm is not too late! :) (Any other day I'm free at around 6, I'd really love to help, just let me know...)
